Foreign officials experience high-speed railway technology

Foreign officials experienced Chinese high-speed railway technology at Liuzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College in Liuzhou, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on Wednesday.

Souksavanh Sesengchan, a representative of the Laotian Ministry of Transportation, expressed his enthusiasm after experiencing the automatic train driving and close-up view of Chinese high-speed railway technology. "It was so fantastic," he said.

On the same day, 29 officials from Laos, Malaysia, and other Belt and Road Initiative countries gathered at the college to participate in the Seminar on Economic Corridor Building & Connectivity Cooperation under the Global Development Initiative.

The advanced equipment in the college's training room attracted the attention of international visitors. Using AR glasses, they were able to immerse themselves in hands-on high-speed rail maintenance and simulated train driving experiences.

Souksavanh Sesengchan, who had been eagerly anticipating this firsthand experience since the China-Laos Railway began operations, noted the convenience it brought to Laos. "The railway has greatly improved transportation in Laos and highlighted the urgent need for more railway professionals," he said.

During the visit, Souksavanh Sesengchan and other Laotian Ministry of Public Works and Transport officials aimed to deepen their understanding of Chinese high-speed rail technology and talent cultivation. "Many Laotian students study high-speed rail knowledge in cities like Liuzhou and Changsha in China. We hope to collaborate with China to cultivate such talents," he added.

In recent years, the Liuzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College has organized connectivity projects between China and Belt and Road Initiative countries. The college has admitted multiple batches of Thai and Laotian students, contributing to the development of international railway professionals for projects like the China-Laos Railway and the China-Thailand Railway.

Luo Xiaofang, deputy principal of the college, emphasized that the seminar provided a platform for mutual learning and exchange, offering all participants an opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of Chinese railways and vocational education development in China.
